Shirley Elinor Reeves

Shirley Elinor Reeves - 84, of the Forties, New Ross, passed away peacefully, surrounded by her family in the Valley Regional Hospital, Kentville, Wednesday, August 19, 2015. Born in the Forties on January 9, 1931, she was the daughter of the late Austin and Roxie (Veno) Brown. Shirley was beautiful on the inside and out, with a generous heart and kind spirit. She loved her family and extended family with her entire heart and did all she could to show this love to them through little deeds, actions and phone calls. Shirley was a devoted member of the Forties United Baptist Church.  She was the loving wife of 66 years to Ashton Reeves and the mother of Mary Ann (Frank) Turner and Haldon (Vienna) Reeves. She is survived by grandchildren, Gerald (Sandra) Rafuse, New Ross; Sandra Rafuse, B.C.; Sarah Turner (Joseph MacDonald), River John; Jachin Turner, New Ross; great-grandchildren, Dexter (Kayla), Brittany (Robert), Christopher, Tonia, Meagan (Sam) and Mason; sisters, Lois Lewis, Dempsey’s Corner; Nina Moody, Berwick; and Beatie (Carl Mosher) Reeves, Forties; brothers, Donald (Shirley), Saskatchewan and Charles (Elsie), Ontario. She was predeceased by grandchildren, Charles Ashton Turner and Brenda Lee Rafuse; sister, Ella Reeves and brothers, Harley, Clifford, Fayne, Leith, Bob, and Dale. There will be no visitation, by request. The funeral service will be held 2:00 p.m. Saturday, August 22, 2015 at the Forties Community Centre, New Ross with Reverend Doug Porter officiating. Burial will be in the Forties United Baptist Church Cemetery. A reception will follow in the Forties Community Centre. Donations in Shirley’s memory may be made to the Forties United Baptist Church Cemetery Fund or any charity of your choice. Arrangements have been entrusted to the White Family Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Kentville.
