Louise Ann Brown

Louise Ann (Woolaver) Brown - 72, of Centreville, Kings County, passed away peacefully Friday, September 4, 2015 at home following a courageous battle with cancer. Born in Medford, Kings County, she was a daughter of the late Walter and Esther (Thornton) Woolaver. She lived and travelled extensively in Europe, USA and Canada during her military family life. She started her hair dressing career at age 12 and received her official certification in St. Louis, Missouri in 1982.  She spent many years in salons as owner or renter and she enjoyed the time she spent with her clients. She was the Air Cadet barber in Chatham, New Brunswick. She had been active with 4H as a member and leader. Cooking and yoga were her passions. She is survived by her husband, Douglas "Doug"; three daughters, Cheryl (Terry) Burke, Ottawa; Rhonda (Jerry) Snook, Comox, British Columbia; Christine Hennigar, Halifax; and son, Duane (Lisa) Brown, Fort McMurray, Alberta; sister, Marion Newcombe, Port Williams; and brother, Frank (Marion) Woolaver, Kingsport; nine grandchildren, Katie, Kiersten, Ashley, Glenn, Daniella, Joey, Ryan, Nathalie and Julianne; two great grandchildren, Leah and Connor. She was predeceased by two sisters, Phyllis Bancroft and Helen Dean and a brother, Floyd Woolaver. Cremation has taken place. Visitation will be held from 6-8 p.m. Wednesday, September 9, 2015 in the White Family Funeral Home, Kentville, where the Celebration of Life service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, September 10, 2015, reception to follow. Burial will take place in the Lakeview Cemetery, Lakeville, Kings County.  The family would like to thank Dr. Nunn, Dr. Merryweather and staff of the chemo unit, Dr. Burgess and staff of Palliative Care Services and VON for the outstanding support and care they received. Family flowers only.  Donations in memory may be made to the Annapolis Valley Victorian Order of Nurses, the Valley Regional Hospital - Carey-Me Fund (in support of palliative care in the home) or to a charity of your choice. Arrangements have been entrusted to the White Family Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Kentville.
