Ada Lutz

1922-2015

Ada Lutz

The family of Ada Lutz, 93, of Habitant, Kings County, is saddened to announce her death on Sunday, September 6, 2015 at the Valley Regional Hospital, Kentville. She was surrounded by all her family. Ada was born in Burgeo (Hunts Island), Newfoundland to Joseph and Elizabeth (Strickland) MacDonald on May 31, 1922. She was the last surviving member of her family, having been predeceased by siblings, Dan (Hilda), Louis, Ward (Theresa), Gladys (Harry Strickland), Elsie (Harry Ingram) and Hilda, in infancy. Ada was also predeceased by her beloved grandson, Matthew Bilocq in 2011. As a young woman, Ada moved to Halifax, married Frederick Lutz of Aylesford, then moved to Habitant. After Fred's early death, she was left to raise five young children. Her children meant everything to her, as young children and as adults. Ada was a devoted mother, a determined and an unselfish woman. Mom was well known for her cooking, baking, knitting, quilting and preserving. She had the best apple pies and pickles! Many family members are able to carry on these qualities for the next generations. Thank you, Mom. Left to mourn but with fond memories are her children, Donald (Dorothy), Fall River; Clyde (Barb), Yarmouth; Nelson (Elaine), Habitant; Doreen Lutz-Bilocq, Cole Harbour; Elaine (Vaughn Huntley), Sackville. Over the years, Mom was happy to share many joys with grandchildren, Deanna, Tammie, Denise, Scott, Michelle L., Gordon, Christie, Michelle B., Chris and Catherine, as well as several great grandchildren. Visitation will be held from 6-8 p.m. Tuesday, September 8, 2015 in the White Family Funeral Home, Kentville, where the funeral service, followed by a reception, will be held at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, September 9, 2015, Reverend Cathy Pharo officiating. Burial will take place in the Habitant Cemetery. The family would like to thank the VON and their home care support team of Kentville as well as to the staff, nurses and doctors of Valley Regional Hospital. Donations may be made to the Annapolis Valley Victorian Order of Nurses, St. Michael and All Saints Anglican Church, Canning or the charity of your choice. Arrangements have been entrusted to the White Family Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Kentville. On-line condolences and inquiries may be directed to www.whitefamilyfuneralhome.com.
