Blanche Marguerite (Banks) O'Leary - 94, of White Rock, passed away on Friday, September 11, 2015 in the Valley Regional Hospital after a long struggle with cancer. Born on Highbury Road, Kentville on March 9,1 921, she was the daughter of the late Ella Maud (Sanford) and David Marshall Banks. She attended school in Kentville and as a young lady worked at the Metropolitan Store in her local town. She met and married Charles L. O'Leary (deceased, November 2005) in January 1943 and continued to work alongside him on their Family Farm in White Rock and later in his business Davies & O'Leary Limited of Wolfville. Together they raised three daughters, Marilyn (deceased, 1999) and her husband, John Van Buskirk (Diane Isnor) and their children, Stacey (Mark Skinner), Ottawa and Andrea (Dave Clarke), White Rock; Beth and her husband, Jack Jodrey, Gaspereau and their children, Devin (Yasmine), Squamish, BC, (their children, Marlon and Harvey), Trevor (Michelle), Falmouth NS, (their children, Sierra and Brayden); Ryan (Nicky Cuff), Fort McMurray, Alta (their son, Liam) and Dustin, Gaspereau; Colleen and her husband, Ralph Stirling and their children, Kourtney (Jeremie DesRoche), Gaspereau and Kaleigh (Jeremy Wigmore), Port Williams. She is also survived by nieces, Gail Margeson and Christine Nowlan; nephews, Randy, John Howard and David Nowlan. Blanche was also predeceased by her sister, Freda (Robert) Margeson and two half-brothers. She will be dearly missed by her family and all who knew and loved her. Together with her late husband, she enjoyed camping with family and friends. Blanche was an active member of her community and had been involved with the Home and School Association and the White Rock Community Club. She was kind and thoughtful and especially loved her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. She expressed her generosity on all special occasions. She was well known and will be greatly missed for her baked beans and cinnamon buns. There will be no visitation by request. Family and friends are invited to her burial in the Gaspereau Cemetery on Wednesday, September 16, 2015 at 3:00 p.m., Reverend Gary Manthorne officiating. A reception will follow at the home of Jack and Beth Jodrey. Family flowers only by request. Donations may be made be made to the Valley Regional Hospital - Carey-Me Fund (in support of palliative care in the home) or to a charity of your choice. Arrangements have been entrusted to the White Family Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Kentville.
