Maisie Bernice Hudson

1920-2015

Maisie Bernice Hudson

The family of Maisie Bernice (Ells) Hudson are sad to announce her passing at Grand View Manor in Berwick on October 29, 2015, at the age of 95. She lived  most of her long life healthy and happy beside the sea, raising her family first in Baxter’s Harbour, Kings County, then Victoria Beach in Annapolis County. Born on September 5, 1920, in Baxter’s Harbour she was the daughter of Fred and Bessie Ells.

A woman of strong and determined spirit, she will be lovingly remembered as a caregiver to many, a wonderful cook and provider. Maisie could conjure up memorable meals from seemingly nothing for unexpected crowds, and her homemade bread and baking was a much-welcomed food source to hordes of family, friends, and strangers.  Her many handmade quilts are scattered far and wide, and their warmth and comfort will continue to remind family and friends of special memories.

Maisie was employed for several years on the maintenance staff at CFB Cornwallis, a position which she was proud to hold. She developed and embraced camaraderie with both military and civilian personnel and made long-lasting friendships with co-workers.

She is survived by husband, Melbourne; daughters, Elizabeth "Betty" Camsell, Port Wade; Sheila Clayton (Sherman), Hillsburn; Wendy Ann Trimper, Hillsburn; sons-in-law, Fred Camsell and Alan Trimper; daughter-in-law, Deborah Joyce; special nephew, Frederick "Mickey" Ells, Lunenburg; grandchildren, James Camsell (Janet Hong), St. John’s, NL; Leah Elzinga (Paul), North Bay, ON; Shane Clayton (Lori Naismith), Hillsburn; Vinna Moore (Kyle), Deep Brook; Jennifer Camsell (Donald Campbell), Beaver Bank; Erin Joyce, Victoria, BC;  Sarah Camsell (Paul Richards), Yellowknife, NT; Elizabeth Trimper (James Flemings), Annapolis Royal; Charlotte Allen (Shawn), Canmore, AB; a brother, Fred Ells, Digby; great-grandchildren, Michael, Brett, Dominique, Rowan, Olivia, Ella, Lily, Jacob, Flynn and Ewan; great-great-grandchildren, Owen, Keleah and Gabrielle; numerous nieces and nephews.
