Verna May Sawler

Verna May Sawler - 80, of Canaan, Kings County, passed away peacefully, surrounded by her family, Wednesday, November 4, 2015 at home. Born in Parry Sound, Ontario, she was the daughter of the late Stanley and Madeline (Creemer) Cuttress. She had been employed as a waitress and dedicated her life to being a homemaker and raising her family. She is survived by her husband, Kenneth Sawler; two daughters, Debbie (Ron - deceased), Ontario and Jean (Nick), Kentville; three sons, Wayne (Evie), Holland; Gary (Bonnie), Ontario and Richard (Brenda), Kentville; nine grandchildren, Robert, Edward, Jason, Larry, Ray, Mike, Lisa, Tina and Adam; several great grandchildren; nieces and nephews; a sister-in-law, Jean, Ontario. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family. She was predeceased by an infant sister; a sister, Frances (Robbie); a brother, Ivan. Visitation will be held from 6-8 p.m. Monday, November 9, 2015 in the White Family Funeral Home, Kentville, where the funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, November 10, 2015, Reverend Barbara Durling officiating. Burial will take place in the Elm Grove Cemetery, Steam Mill. A reception will follow in the South Alton Community Centre. Family flowers only, by request. Donations in memory may be made to the Annapolis Valley Victorian Order of Nurses or the Canadian Cancer Society. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the White Family Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Kentville.
