Eric was predeceased by his mom, Elizabeth Stuart Goodstein; step-dad, Edward Goodstein; dad, John "Jack" Houck; step-mom, Charlotte deHassie; half-bother, Alex and two uncles, Derek and Stephen Stuart.

Eric is survived by his wife and best friend, April Corbin; son, Jonathan, Cold Lake, Alberta and granddaughter, Alexis; step-son, Chad Corbin, Kentville; brother, John (Lorna), Martock; sisters, Leslie Houck-Stayrook (Rodney), Yarmouth; Mary MacDonald (Kris), San Diego; Emily Houck, North Carolina; step-brother, Dan Goodstein (Penny), Alaska; in-laws, Ernest and Velma Corbin, Kentville; George (Anita) Corbin, Cambridge; John (Paula) Corbin, Lower Sackville; Darlene (Tim) Tabor, Berwick and Cheryl (Donald) Pick, St. Croix; aunt, Marie Stuart, Coldbrook; many nieces and nephews whom he loved dearly.

Eric and April lived many places in North America where they met many good friends. They loved to travel. Hawaii was their favorite vacation spot as well as Heavenly Acres Campground in Standardsville, Virginia. He loved going to the lodge each year for Thanksgiving with the Corbin family.

Eric's main career was Microsoft Systems Engineer where he got to travel all over the world. For many years Eric worked for the US government where he taught the US Military. He went to many places and always looked forward to going to the next destination. In just one year Eric got to go to Alaska, Hawaii, Japan, Guam, Saudi Arabia, Germany and numerous other places in the United States.

Eric was a member of the Lions Club International in Wolfville. He was also a part of the Timmies group that got together in the evenings at Tim Hortons in Wolfville where we all became family. Eric also loved going with friends on motorcycle trips each year. He loved his dogs and will be reunited with all of his best friends in Heaven. When Eric was driving truck you would never see him without his girl, Fara. Eric and Fara, his German shepherd, were inseparable.

Eric had a successful life. He enjoyed and loved his wife, his family, his dogs, his friends. He took care of those around him and valued life. He shared of himself with the homeless, those who needed a hand or those who needed an ear. Whether it was blankets or coats for the homeless in winter, helping a stranger change a tire or sitting with a young Nova Scotian in Ottawa, while they waited for a bus to take him home, Eric lived a life that will bring him home to his resting place in peace.
