Lewis Owen Barkhouse - 52, of Canning, Kings County, passed away peacefully, Friday, November 20, 2015 in Kingsport, at the home of his niece, Sandi Dean. Born in Kentville, he was a son of the late Winslow and Velma (Crouse) Barkhouse. Lewis was well-known in the Canning area, having worked at the local grocery store for over 20 years. He enjoyed playing darts and although being hearing impaired, had a great sense of humor, a contagious smile and loved to tease. He is survived by a sister, Jean Hazel, New Minas; two brothers, Albert (Grace) Barkhouse, Canning; Doug (Lavinia) Barkhouse, Port Williams; a sister-in-law, Velma (Ernie) Perrault-Campbell, Scotts Bay; nieces and nephews, Sandra "Sandi" Dean (Ken), Kingsport; Barbara Hazel-Lockyear (Dale), Lethbridge, Alberta; Karen Hazel, New Minas; Ronald Hazel, Canning; Angela Barkhouse-McPherson (Mike), Nunavut; Lesley Hopkins (Wayne), New Minas; Sherry Perrault, Roger Perrault and Mark Perrault; several great nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a sister, Myrna Fulton. Visitation will be held from 6-8 p.m. Monday, November 23, 2015 in the White Family Funeral Home, Kentville, where the funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, November 24, 2015. Burial will take place in the Hillaton Cemetery, Kings County. A reception will follow in the Canning Volunteer Fire Department. Donations in memory may be made to the Canning Volunteer Fire Department. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the White Family Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Kentville.
