James Edward "Jim" Sullivan

James Edward Thomas "Jim" Sullivan - 83, of West Halls Harbour, Kings County, passed away Monday, November 23, 2015 in the Valley Regional Hospital, Kentville. Born in Berwick, he was a son of the late Harold and Ellen (Gould) Sullivan. He served with the Black Watch in Gagetown, New Brunswick and with the Military Police in Ontario. He was also employed for 34 years as a truck driver in Ontario. He loved cutting and splitting wood and enjoyed hunting and fishing. An avid guitar and mandolin musician, he was a member of the Blue Grass Association and attended many jam sessions. Jim was a member of the Royal Canadian Legion, Kings Branch No. 6, Kentville. He is survived by his common-law wife, Cynthia "Pauline" Crowell; two sons, John (Kathy), New Minas; Gary (Helen), Centreville; two step-daughters, Julie (Richard) Cameron, Barrington; Rosie (Howard) Crowell, Shelburne; a step-son, Robert (Brenda) Crowell, Prince Albert, Saskatchewan; a brother, Walter (Peggy), Ontario; an adopted brother, Eric Schofield, Edmonton, Alberta; four grandchildren; seven great grandchildren; three step-grandchildren; two step great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by his first wife, Joyce; a daughter, Carolyn Sullivan. Visitation will be held from 6-8 p.m. Friday, November 27, 2015 in the White Family Funeral Home, Kentville, where the funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, November 28, 2015, Reverend Michael Shreve officiating. Burial will take place in the West Halls Harbour Cemetery. Family flowers only, by request. Donations in memory may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society or the Parkinson's Foundation of Canada. The family would like to extend a special thank you to their guardian angels, Bob, Brenda and George Newcombe for their many acts of kindness shown to Jim and his family.
