Mary Elizabeth "Betty" Knight

Mary Elizabeth "Betty" Knight - 95, of New Minas, passed away Thursday, January 14, 2016 in the Valley Regional Hospital, Kentville. Born in Halifax, she was a daughter of the late Otis and Katherine (MacDonald) Cox. She received her education from Mt. Allison University and trained as an accountant. She later devoted her life to family. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, homemaker and friend. She was a member of St. Michael and All Angels Anglican Church, Canning, where she faithfully served on their Guild. She was an avid rug hooker and was instrumental in starting the Loft Hookers group. She was a volunteer and served on the boards of the Grace Maternity Hospital and the YWCA in Halifax. She enjoyed cooking and together with her late husband, traveled the world. She is survived by two daughters, Lesley (Robert) Holmes, New Minas; Karen Vickers (Wayne Walsh), Kentville; a son, Dr. Michael (Patricia), West Vancouver; a sister, Kay Messervey, Peterborough, Ontario; eight grandchildren, Natasha, Christopher, Michelle, Michael, Melanie, Mark, Jason and Tyler; eight great grandchildren; nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband, Vadim Michael Knight; a sister, Jean Eaman. Cremation has taken place. There will be no visitation, by request. The funeral service, followed by a reception, will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, January 22, 2016 in the White Family Funeral Home, Kentville. Burial will take place at a later date in St. John's Anglican Church Cemetery. Donations in memory may be made to the charity of your choice. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the White Family Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Kentville.
