Bernice Kathleen Sanford

Bernice Kathleen Sanford - 93 of Habitant, Kings County passed away peacefully, Sunday, January 17, 2016, in the Valley Regional Hospital, Kentville. Born in Pereau, Kings County, she was a daughter of the late Guy and Jeanette (Greencorn) Thorpe. She dedicated her life to her family. Over the years she provided child care for many children and each was cared for with love. Bernice enjoyed day trips and family outings especially those that ended at one of her favourite restaurants. She also enjoyed television shows and backyard feathered friends. She is survived by her children, Marilyn Harris, Mary (Lawrence) Bigelow, Betty (Don) Brawn, Manning (Marlene), Margaret (Leo) McKay, Kathy (Doug) Legge, Holly (Pat) Marshall, Joanne Silver (Craig); brother, Grant Thorpe; sisters, Myrtle Meister, Sheila (Dave) Cull, Leona (Cecil) Greencorn, Nina Henshaw; sisters-in-law, Miriam Thorpe and Clara Thorpe; 18 grandchildren, 34 great grandchildren and two great great grandchildren; many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by son, Mervin; grandson, Darren Brawn; son-in-law, Ron Harris; sister, Reta; brothers, Ellsworth, Gordon, Glen and Kenny; brothers-in-law, Gordon Meister, Joe Henshaw, Gordon Henshaw; sister-in-law, Marion Thorpe. Cremation has taken place and there will be no visitation, by request. A private family Celebration of Life will be held in the White Family Funeral Home, Kentville. Donations in Bernice's memory may be made to the Valley Cardiac Rehab Society, the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Nova Scotia or the Canning Volunteer Fire Department. Arrangements have been entrusted to the White Family Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Kentville.
