Lindsay Warren Russell

Lindsay Warren Russell - 84, of Middleton, formerly of Vancouver, BC, died January 19, 2016 in Soldier's Memorial Hospital, Middleton. He was born on December 22, 1931 in Waltham, Mass., USA. He was the son of the late Hallett and Mona (Ramey) Russell. After moving to Nova Scotia he resided in New Germany and became a member of the RCAF where he served for 13 years. Later he was employed with Imperial Oil Ltd. as a diagnostician for 17 years and then retired to Vancouver for over 40 years. He raised and trained tropical birds as a hobby. He will be remembered for his sharp wit and jovial laughter, his immense kindness and generosity. He was a jack-of-all-trades. He was also a member of Saint John's In The Wilderness Anglican Church, New Germany. He is survived by one son, Barry (Lorraine); two daughters, Sherry and Mona, all of BC; sister, Bettyann Merriam, Middleton; sister-in-law, Joan Russell, Beaver Bank; five grandchildren; loving companion and best friend, Pauline Woodworth, New Minas and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his wife, Gertie (Wunsch); three brothers, Ray, Winton and Allan; brother-in-law, Don Merriam. Cremation has taken place. At Lindsay's request there will be no visitation or funeral service. Donations in memory may be made to the War Amps or S.P.C.A. Arrangements have been entrusted to the White Family Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Kentville.
