Kathleen Antoinette (Theresa) Hanna

Kathleen Antoinette (Theresa) Hanna-73, New Minas, NS, loving mother and grandmother (Sittoe) passed away peacefully January 25, 2016, surrounded by her three daughters and family in Valley Regional Hospital, Kentville, NS. Born in Michigan City, Indiana. Kathy Graduated from Elston High School in 1961 and studied at Purdue North Central. Kathy was the daughter of the late Albert and Sarah Attar and preceded in death by sister, Phyllis Attar, Michigan City, Indiana and brother, Andrew Attar, Crown Point, IN. Kathleen left her hometown in 1970 to start a life and family in Canada. She is survived by her daughters; Deborah (Blair) Cook, Sara (Jamie) Henderson, Lee Anne Hanna – Davidson (Darrell Cotton) of Annapolis Valley, NS; 10 grandchildren, Chelsea, Breanna, Katie, Lexie, Sam, Cameron, Hanna, Cohen, Julia, and Braden of Annapolis Valley, NS; great grandchild, Kyrie; two brothers, Warren (Kay) Attar, Laporte, IN; and Keith (Sandy) Attar, Michigan City, IN; sister, Virginia (late Goth) Wilkins, Laporte IN; sister-in-law, Judi Attar, Crown Point, IN; and many nieces and nephews. Kathy was a long time employee with Annapolis Valley school board. Throughout her career, she worked at Central Kings Rural High School as a secretary, Somerset Elementary school as an educational assistant, and Wolfville Elementary school as an educational assistant where she retired from 2008. Kathy was a very smart, multi-talented lady who had a great love and talent for painting water colors. Kathy had a strong faith in God which helped her through the struggles she faced in life. Kathy was an incredibly strong woman who loved spending time with her daughters, grandchildren, and family which she had an abundance of love for and they meant the world to her.  Kathy will be remembered for her huge heart, strong family values, determination and love for life. She will be forever loved and greatly missed by her daughters, family, and many great friends. Cremation has taken place and there will be no visitation by request. A funeral mass and reception will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, February 6, 2016 in St. Joseph's Roman Catholic Church, Kentville. Interment will be held  been at a later date in the Holy Cross Cemetery, Kentville. Donations in memory may be made to the Valley Regional Hospital (Palliative Care), Celiac Foundation or the Scleroderma Foundation.
