Debbie passed away quietly on Mar 7, 2016. She leaves behind her parents Colleen Sylvia (George) and Francis "Frank" Mendel; her brothers, Stephen Francis, Daniel "Danny" Robert and Gregory Brice and her nephew, David Michael. Debbie was born into an Air Force family in Fort Churchill, Manitoba, growing up in Manitoba, Quebec, France, Alberta and Nova Scotia. She graduated from Acadia University in the Class of 1973, and then worked in the St. Joseph’s Daycare in Halifax and later the Middleton Day Care. She moved from Nova Scotia to Prince George in 1984 to begin her career teaching Early Childhood Care and Learning at the College of New Caledonia. She retired back to Halifax in 2010 and moved to Wolfville in 2015. Travel was always Debbie’s passion making it to five continents with Mexico being the favourite destination. Over the years, she developed many enduring friendships across Canada, the United States and Mexico. Donations can be made to the VON. Visitation will be held from 6-8 p.m. on Tuesday, May 31, 2016 in the White Family Funeral Home, Kentville. Funeral Mass will be held on Wednesday, June 1, 2016 at 2:00 p.m. at St. Joseph’s Roman Catholic Church in Kentville. Reception will follow. A private interment will be held at a later date. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the White Family Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Kentville.
