Ralph Griffin Bauckman – of Cambridge, Kings County.  On Wednesday, March 30, 2016 the light of our lives went out, our dear husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather passed away peacefully at the QEII Health Sciences Centre, Halifax, surrounded by his loving family at the age of 86. He was born in Annapolis Royal and raised by his parents, the late Ralph "Griff" and Thera (Guest) Bauckman. He had two siblings, sisters, Marjorie and Florence. He attended Annapolis Royal Academy after which he was offered employment with the Bank of Nova Scotia. He served at many branches throughout Nova Scotia and New Brunswick. He left his banking days in North Sydney and in 1951 joined the Royal Canadian Mounted Police. He trained at Depot Division in Regina, Saskatchewan, following which he was posted to Ottawa, then to Toronto and Hamilton, where he met and married the love of his life, Noreen Mae Ives. In 1958, he was transferred to Nova Scotia, stationed to postings in Bridgetown, Lunenburg, New Glasgow and Kentville, where he remained for six years as NCO of New Minas Detachment, retiring in December, 1976. In January of 1977, he was employed by Taylor MacLellan and Cochran (TMC Law), Kentville as a Legal Administrator for 15 years, retiring in 1992. In retirement, Ralph most enjoyed traveling, woodworking and weekly lunch dates with friends from TMC. Among Ralph's achievements over the years, he was most proud of the honour of receiving the Queens Diamond Jubilee Century of Service Challenge Award. He is survived by his beloved wife of 61 years, Noreen; four beautiful daughters, Debbie (Karl) Kaleva, Lorne, Pictou County; Laurie (Charles) Davidson, Waterville, New Brunswick; Nancy (Terry) Miller, Port Williams; Karen Bauckman, New Minas;  seven grandchildren, Shelley, Bradley, Griffin, Sarah, Michael, Megan and Cayle; six great grandchildren; a sister, Florence Pichette, Nipigon, Ontario; a sister-in-law, Geraldine Campbell, Burlington, Ontario; many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a sister, Marjorie Bauckman; a brother-in-law, Joseph Campbell. Cremation has taken place. There will be no visitation, by request. The funeral service, followed by a reception, will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, April 9, 2016 in the White Family Funeral Home, Kentville, Father Gerald Saulnier officiating. Burial will take place at a later date in the Holy Cross Cemetery, Kentville. Donations in memory may be made to the Children's Wish Foundation or to a charity of your choice.
