Eileen Winnifred Hovell

Eileen Winnifred Hovell - formerly of New Minas, passed away peacefully, Tuesday, April 5, 2016 in the Annapolis Royal Nursing Home one day before her 98th birthday. Born on April 6, 1918 in Avonport, Kings County, she was a daughter of the late Patrick and Clara (Saulnier) Keating. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family. Eileen was a lifetime member of St. John’s Anglican Church, Port Williams. She taught Sunday school for many years and was an ACW member. She was predeceased by her husband of 67 years, Charles;  grandson, Michael Hovell; great grandson, Shawn; former daughter-in-law, Colleen; sisters, Kathleen, Jean and Frances; brothers, John, Michael, Dennis and Andrew. She is survived by sons, George (Christine), New Minas; John (Peggy), Kentville; grandchildren, Debbie (Steve) Proctor, Jeff (Narda) Hovell, Sharon (Michael) MacDonald and Tanya Hovell (Joel Nedeau); great grandchildren, Cydney and MacKenzie Proctor, Kirk and Kelly Hovell, Jill and Michelle MacDonald and Hannah Nedeau; sister-in-law, Jean Farris; several nieces and nephews. Cremation has taken place. There will be no visitation, by request. The funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, April 23, 2016 in St. John’s Anglican Church, Port Williams, Reverend Maya Bevan officiating. Burial will take place in St. John’s Anglican Church Cemetery. A reception will follow in the Parish Hall. Donations in memory may be made to the charity of your choice. The family would like to thank the Annapolis Royal Nursing Home for the wonderful care our loved one has received for the past three years. Arrangements have been entrusted to the White Family Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Kentville.
