Frank Casey

1948-2016

Frank Casey

Frank Archibald Casey – 68, formerly of East Dalhousie, passed away on April 22, 2016 in Shannex Orchard Court, Kentville, NS.  Born in Lakeview, he was the son of the late Austin and Veronica "Vonnie" (Michaud) Casey.  He is survived by his former spouse Fern Robar and their three children Rhonda (Mike) Norton, Mississauga; Cyndee (Marty Reeves) Casey, Fraxville; Shannon (Karen) Casey, Lake Paul.  He chose to be actively involved in his grandchildren’s lives until his life prevented it.  Grampie will be greatly missed by his grandchildren Sarah, Meghan, Rachael, Trevor, Rodrick, Amelia, Maria and Emily.    His is also survived by siblings Eileen Casey, Berwick; Yvonne Casey, Calgary; Maureen (Len) Walker, Halls Harbour; Eleanor (Leon) Zwicker, East Dalhousie; Vincent (Wendy Mailman) Casey, Lakeview; sister in-law Faye (Stan Doucette) Casey, New Minas; brother in-law Jeff (Julie) Robar, Morristown; previous partner Nancy Kaizer (daughter Holly) and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brother in-law Vincent Robar. Frank was mechanically inclined and a dedicated woodsman.  He could drive and repair anything and used his welding skills to create some amazing vehicles like his car/truck hybrid and his family dune buggy.  He always lent a helping hand to anyone at anytime and enjoyed a good game of cards.  Frank took pride in all of the work he did over the years which included woods work, driving a school bus, operating heavy equipment, diamond drilling, growing Christmas trees and harvesting blueberries.  His real love was for the outdoors where he could find his way anywhere through the woods without worrying about getting lost, taking great joy in trapping, fishing, hunting and he usually had his hunting dogs with him.  Snowmobiling was something he enjoyed in the winter time and sometimes he took the whole family on trips that would include winter picnics.  He also loved to fly fish but in later years could often be seen putting his own rod aside while he helped one of his grandchildren fix their worm on their hook or trying to get fishhooks out of the bushes. Cremation has taken place.  Visitation will be held 6-8 pm., Thursday May 5th in White Family Funeral Home, Kentville.  Funeral mass will take place at 2pm, Friday May 6th in St. Brigid’s Roman Catholic Church, East Dalhousie, Father Jim MacDonald officiating.  A private family burial will take place in the church cemetery. A reception will follow in the East Dalhousie community centre.  In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation or charity of choice.  The family would like to thank the dedicated staff at Shannex Orchards Court and the palliative care volunteers for the wonderful care our loved one has received while there. Arrangements have been entrusted to the White Family Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Kentville.
