Ruth Carolyn Downey

Ruth Carolyn Downey – 78, of Port Williams, Kings County, passed away on Wednesday, May 18, 2016 in the Valley Regional Hospital, Kentville. Born in Highbury, Kings County, she was a daughter of the late Elijah and Agnes (Coleman) Bishop. She loved spending time with family, baking, sewing and was a caring person with a big heart and a quick wit. She was an animal enthusiast and especially enjoyed riding and showing horses. She is survived by her boyfriend and husband of 64 years, Wayne; her daughter, Lana Downey (Josh), Eastern Passage; her two sons, Wade (Wanda), Kentville; Ryan (Jennifer), Coldbrook; her sister, Pat (Chester) Bergunder, British Columbia; her two brothers, Charlie (Sharon) Bishop, Kingston; Bruce Bishop, Centreville; her six grandchildren, Savannah, Grayden, Ainsley, Helena, Kayleigh and Amanda (Andrew) Guthro; her great granddaughter, Riley; her nieces and nephews. Cremation has taken place and there will be no visitation by request. The funeral service, followed by a reception, will be held at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, May 24, 2016 in the White Family Funeral Home, Kentville, Reverend Elizabeth Johnson officiating. Burial will take place in the Elm Grove Cemetery, Steam Mill, Kings County. Donations in memory may be made to a charity of your choice. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the White Family Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Kentville.
