Edna "Marguerite" Hatt passes away at age 101

 

Edna "Marguerite" Hatt – 101, formerly of Port Williams, Kings County, passed away peacefully with family present on Friday, May 20, 2016 in Shannex-Orchard Court, Kentville, where she called home. Born in Port Williams, she was a daughter of the late Newton and Edna (Fuller) Taylor. She was a member of the Port Williams Baptist Church, where she served as Church Clerk for over 15 years. She also taught Sunday School in several churches for many years. Marguerite had been employed as a secretary for various companies for 35 years. She was an extremely positive and appreciative person and an avid card player. She especially enjoyed playing Auction 45’s, swimming and taking her friends for drives. She is survived by two daughters, Audrey Ashby (Carl), Centreville and Sheila West, Kentville; four grandchildren, John (Amy) West, Fall River; Shelley West (Lawrence), Kentville; Scott (Rhonda) Ashby, Dartmouth and Stephen Ashby, Coldbrook; eight great grandchildren, Sabrina Berry, Samantha West, Kaylie Marie West, David John West, Kailie Lily Cochrane, Kendra Ashby, Natasha Ashby and Riley Ashby. She was predeceased by her husband, Murray; two sons-in-law, David Ashby and John "Gene" West. Cremation has taken place. At her request, there will be no visitation. The funeral service, followed by a reception, will be held at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, May 25, 2016 in the White Family Funeral Home, Kentville, Reverend Murray Shaw and Reverend David Ogilvie officiating. Burial will take place in the Jaw Bone Corner Cemetery, Canard, Kings County. Donations in memory may be made to the Port Williams Baptist Church or a charity of your choice. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the White Family Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Kentville.
