Frederick Donald "Fred" MacIntosh

Frederick Donald "Fred" MacIntosh

Frederick Donald "Fred" MacIntosh - 65, of Avonport, passed away peacefully at home in the loving arms of his family on June 19th, 2016. Born on October 19th, 1950 in Wolfville, he was the eldest son of the late Donald and Violet (Rudolph) MacIntosh. Fred worked for 44 years as a licensed plumber for various companies in Wolfville, spending the last 30 years at Acadia University. He was a member of the Avonport Baptist Church. Fred was happiest when surrounded by family, friends, music and laughter. Blessed with a natural ability for singing and drumming, he drew inspiration from the countless nights of watching Don and Vi share their own musical talents with friends and relatives in their home on the Bluff Road. Fred went on to become a member of "The Neighbour’s Kids" and a number of other groups including "Night Shift" making lifelong friends along the way. If Fred couldn’t be sitting behind the drums, then walking with his feet in the warm sand of Risser’s Beach with his family searching for sand dollars and "treasures" is where he was truly relaxed. He was known for his loving hugs for anyone who was lucky enough to receive them. How blessed we were to have this beautiful soul in our lives to call Honey, Dad and Papa. Fred is survived by the love of his life, wife of 42 years Jeannie (Davison); daughter, Trisha (Mark) Merritt; son, Scott (Melanie) MacIntosh and his most precious treasures, grandchildren, Brayden Merritt, and Violet and Emmett MacIntosh. He is also survived by brother, Blake; sister, June (Terry Broome); father and mother-in-law, Vernon and Madge Davison. Cremation has taken place. Visitation will be held from 6-8 p.m. Friday, June 24th 2016 in the White Family Funeral Home, Kentville, where a celebration of his life and reception will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, June 25th 2016, Reverend Wayne Fevens officiating. Burial will take place in the Riverbank Cemetery, Hantsport. Family flowers only by request. Donations in memory may be made to the Valley Regional Hospital – Carey Me Fund (in support of palliative care in the home), the Avonport Baptist Church or the Annapolis Valley Victorian Order of Nurses. Arrangements have been entrusted to the White Family Funeral Home. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the White Family Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Kentville.
