Grace Alma Andrews

Grace Alma (Nickerson) Andrews – 88, of Cambridge, Kings County, passed away after a brief battle with cancer on Wednesday, June 29, 2016 in the Valley Regional Hospital, Kentville. Born in Forbes Point, she was a daughter of the late Dexter and Lulu (Butler) Nickerson. In addition to being a housewife, she was employed as a switchboard operator for MT&T and various other telephone companies, retiring in Borden, Ontario in 1992. The always smiling and good natured Gracie, Mom, Grandma, sister and aunt will be missed by family and friends. She is survived by a daughter, Patricia (Edward) Sweeney, Brighton, ON; a son, Anthony "Tony" Thormin, Barrie, ON; two sisters, Carol (Larry) Newell and Sylvia Turner, all of New Minas; two brothers, Douglas (Nita), Mt. Uniacke; Malcolm "Mac" (Kay), Rusagonis, NB; three grandchildren, Paul (Marianne) Gustain, Orleans, ON; Vidmontas "Chip" Gustain, Orillia, ON and Brendan Thormin, Barrie, ON; two great grandsons, Mike and Alex Gustain, Orleans, ON; nieces, nephews and cousins. She was predeceased by her first husband, Philip Thormin; her second husband, William "Bill" Andrews; two sisters, Helena and Audrey; a brother-in-law, Silver Turner. Cremation has taken place. There will be no visitation, by request. The funeral service, followed by a reception, will be held at 2:00 p.m. Friday, July 1, 2016 in the White Family Funeral Home, Kentville, Reverend Darryl Dykens officiating. Donations in memory may be made to the Valley Regional Hospital. Mom had the most caring neighbours, Jean and Cam Baker, Dorothy Curran and Donna Lyons, all of Cambridge Court and we thank all of you for your love and support. Thank you as well to the warm and wonderful staff of the Valley Regional Hospital during Mom’s many stays and to the most competent EHS paramedics. A special thank you to nephew, Wayne and Sharon Andrews of Dartmouth. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the White Family Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Kentville.
