Joyce Ann Gould

Joyce Ann Gould - 76, of Woodville, Kings County. We are saddened to announce the passing of our mother, Joyce, on Monday, July 4, 2016 at the Valley Regional Hospital, Kentville. She was the daughter of the late James and Lorna (Hamilton) Doherty, of Black Rock. She worked at Harry Clark’s farm for many years, D.B. Lacey’s General Store, Woodville, Valley Stationers, Kentville, Boates U-Pick and Footes’s Family Farm. She also worked with many seniors, helping them in their homes. She enjoyed visiting and singing at nursing homes. She loved people and enjoyed everyone. She just loved life. Mom also loved her Lord and depended on him everyday to help her along. She loved her family and enjoyed spending time with all, especially her grandchildren and great–grandchildren. She was also involved with the Valley Pregnancy Care Centre for a number of years. Joyce leaves behind her daughters, Darlene Kerr and Kathy Blenus (Marven); her sisters, Carol Hampsey, Fran Lowe (Laurie), Madeline Sheffield (Eugene) and Judy Cudmore (Martin); sister-in-law, Esther Doherty; grandchildren, Stephanie Doucette (Mark), Adrian Blenus (Kelly), Jolene Kerr, Lacey Kerr and Jonathan Kerr (Carissa MacInnis); great grandchildren, Lucas Brown, Whitney Kerr, Spencer Kerr, Landon Watkins, Rylan Kerr, Ashton Kerr and Sawyer Blenus; also many nieces and nephews, whom she loved dearly. She was predeceased by her husband, Cecil Gould; brothers, Eddie and Johnny; two sisters, Geraldine (in infancy) and Jean Murphy; special friend, George Bruneau. Joyce’s body has been donated to Dalhousie Medical Research. A celebration of her life will be held at the White Family Funeral Home, Kentville on Friday, July 22, 2016 with visitation at 1:00 p.m. and the memorial service at 2:00 p.m. A reception will follow at the Woodville Community Centre. Family flowers only. Donations in memory can be made to the Annapolis Valley Victorian Order of Nurses or the Canadian Cancer Society. A special thank you to Dr. Sinclair, all the staff of Medical A at the Valley Regional Hospital and also all of the nurses and VON who took special care of mom in her home. Also special thanks and gratitude to mom’s sisters and friends who stayed and cared for her so she could stay in her own home as long as she did. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the White Family Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Kentville.
