Cecil Frederick Martin

Cecil Frederick Martin – 72, of New Minas, passed away Tuesday, July 26, 2016 in the Valley Regional Hospital, Kentville. Born in St. John’s, NL, he was a son of the late Cecil and Carrie (Hibbs) Martin. He was employed with Dominion stores as a butcher, Seagrams as a sales rep, owner and operator of Martins Lounge in St. John's, NL, then retired from JR's in New Minas, Nova Scotia. He enjoyed his time in Newfoundland fishing across the marsh with his family and going out on the boat in Bar Haven. He also loved spending his time at the Stagger Inn hunting camp as the cook with close friends and family. He is survived by his wife, Alemina "Alley" (Mulrooney); a daughter, Jenny (Mike) Connors; a son, David (Jackie); three step sons, Mark (Tascha), Cory (Lyndsey) and Lee (Joni); two brothers, Rex (Joan) and Bruce (Donna); two sisters, Ginny Beldam and Sharon (Tom) Collingwood; four grandchildren, David, Kaitlyn, Kaden and Calley; four step-grandchildren, Maddox, Savannah, Taylor and Paisley; special girls, Jade and Sha Sha; a large number of nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by two sisters, Mina Hempel and Anne Sparkes; nephews, Leslie Sparkes and Douglas Collingwood. Visitation will be held from 6-9 p.m. Thursday, July 28, 2016 in the White Family Funeral Home, Kentville, with a time of reflection and music to be held at 7:00 p.m. Cremation will then take place. Alley will then take Cecil back home to Newfoundland. Donations in memory may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Nova Scotia. The family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff at the Valley Regional Hospital for your care, kindness and compassion. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the White Family Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Kentville.
