Donald Frederick Wilson

Donald Frederick Wilson - 91, of Lakewood Road, Steam Mill, Kings County, passed away Saturday, August 6, 2016 at Evergreen Home for Special Care. Born in Kentville, he was a son of the late Arthur and Blanche (Bennett) Wilson. In his earlier years, he worked at the Kentville Research Station. He was then employed as a stationary engineer and controlled atmosphere technician with Scotian Gold, from where he retired. He is survived by his wife of 69 years, Lyda (Turner); daughter, Lynn (Don) Hill, New Minas; son, Bruce (Gina), Halifax; grandchildren, Zita MacDow and Raya MacDow Delaney (Evan), Nathan, Sarah, and Chloe Wilson; great grandchildren, Pheida and Nora Delaney; a sister, June (Ron) Rozee, Sackville; many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his eldest daughter, Donna MacDow; sisters, Joyce Theriault and Bessie Adams; three brothers, Harold, Basil and Robie Wilson. Cremation has taken place. There will be no visitation, by request. The funeral service, followed by a reception, will be held at 2:00 p.m., Thursday, August 11, 2016 in the White Family Funeral Home, Kentville, Reverend Gary Manthorne officiating. Burial will take place at a later date in the Elm Grove Cemetery, Steam Mill. Donations in memory may be made to the S.P.C.A. Kings County or the Alzheimer Society of Nova Scotia. The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you for all of the superb care, kindness, and compassion that was shown by everyone at Evergreen Home during his stay there, and again to the Valley Regional Medical B Extension staff who cared for him two years ago. Though he couldn't always say thank you except with a smile, Dad would have wanted you to know he was very appreciative of everything that was done for him.  Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the White Family Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Kentville.
