Lexie Blossom Dorman

1931-2016

Lexie Blossom Dorman

It is in Christian peace and faith we announce the passing of our mother, Lexie Blossom Dorman (Harris) of Grand View Manor, Berwick NS on Wednesday, September 7, 2016. Born in Newtonville, Kings County on December 8, 1931, Lexie was the daughter of the late Walter and Ethel Harris. She is survived by her brother, Gilbert and sisters, Carol (Wendell Pigott), Joyce (Allen Findlay) and Judy (Joe Carignan). Lexie was married to our father, the late Lloyd Dorman for 63 years and she is survived by her children, Bill (Gwen Campbell), Linda (John MacLean), Dora (Lloyd Pineo) and Carrie (Cecil Corbin) and grandchildren, Danel, Kimberley, Troy, Melissa, Jennifer, Christopher, Candace, Devan, Justin and several great grandchildren. Lexie was predeceased by her daughter, Louise and siblings Albert, Chester, Delbert, Carl, Joe, Evelyn (Keddy), Francis (Schofield), Betty (Schofield) and Beulah (Keddy). Lexie was devoted to her family and "home" was top priority. Not only did she provide a loving atmosphere for her husband and children, she often opened her home to provide shelter and refuge to many extended family and friends in crisis. Lexie worked tirelessly from dawn to dusk providing for her family, maintaining and managing household affairs and took pride working along-side our father on the self-sustaining family farm. Lexie was an exceptional cook, she loved to bake and possessed the Christian gift of hospitality. Lexie’s embroidery was a work of art. She loved music and she enjoyed singing and dancing. Lexie had a tender heart for children, she delighted in her grandchildren and great grandchildren and longed for those she was distanced from. Upon retirement, she enjoyed gardening, hymn sings and indulging in daytime television with our father, their favorite soap opera being "Another World". We would like to express our gratitude to our mother’s extended family at Grand View Manor where she resided for five years. Lexie’s life at the Manor was full of joy. We thank staff for their friendship, kindness, and support. We are especially grateful for their care and genuine love of our mother during the last days of her life, the tenderness in which you cared for our mother will never be forgotten. A service celebrating Lexie’s life will be held at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, September 11, 2016 in the White Family Funeral Home, Kentville, Reverend Ellen Hunt officiating.
