Shirley Edith Farris

Shirley Edith Farris - 79, of Berwick, formerly of Kentville, passed away Tuesday, September 20, 2016 in the QEll Health Sciences Centre, Halifax. Born in Kentville, she was a daughter of the late Robert and Mary (Corbin) Farris. She was employed with the Metropolitan, Greenburg and Red Apple department stores for 43 years. She enjoyed working with the public and always smiled when someone recognized her from "The Met". She was an avid bingo player and looked forward to this time with friends. She enjoyed word seek puzzles. She volunteered at the Grand View Manor, played bingo and enjoyed sitting with the girls and friends at Fundy Villa. Shirley always got together with special friends and co workers, Doris Nichols and Mary Barron on their birthdays. She thought a lot of the nurses and staff at Grand View Manor, especially Nurse Wendy. She is survived by her son, Randy (Cindy Kerr), Canning; a grandson, Ryan Farris; a step-grandson, Steven; a sister, Joan (Frank) Martin, Kentville; a brother, Robert (Shirley), New Minas. She was predeceased by a brother, Ronald. Visitation will be held from 7-9 p.m. Thursday, September 22, 2016 in the White Family Funeral Home, Kentville, where the funeral service, followed by a reception will be held at 2:00 p.m. Friday, September 23, 2016. Reverend Sarah Scott officiating. Burial will take place in the Elm Grove Cemetery, Steam Mill. Donations in memory may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation or to a charity of your choice. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the White Family Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Kentville.
