Douglas "Collin" Farris – 75, of Coldbrook, Kings County, was peacefully taken home from the Valley Regional Hospital into the loving arms of Jesus Christ on Wednesday, September 28, 2016. Born on March 27, 1941 at home on Brooklyn Street, Kings County, he was a son of the late James and Dorothy (Morley) Farris and was the baby of 18. He served as a Corporal in the Service Corps in the Canadian Armed Forces with service in Canada and Egypt as a Supply Order Secretary. He received a CD Serving Medal (Peacekeeping) and a UNEF Egypt Medal. Following his service, he had been employed with Cornwallis Dairy and later served as a commissionaire with Acadia University for 17 years. After retiring from Acadia, he delivered flowers for A Beautiful Bouquet. He was a former member of the Coldbrook Lions Club. He had a passion for fishing and enjoyed building wooden benches and various other woodworking projects. He was a kind and giving man who loved God’s Word and prayer. He will be sadly missed by his loving wife, Sharon (Raymond) (Smith); a daughter, Mary Jean "MJ"; a grandson, Tony; a granddaughter, Keisha; two precious great grandsons; a brother, Robert (Doris); several nieces, nephews, loved ones and friends. He was predeceased by a wife, Shirley (Crooks); brothers, William, Gerald, Phillip, Paul, Carl, Dean, Dalton and Glenn; sisters, Winnifred, Waunita, Dorothy, Valentine and Sylvia; three infant siblings. Cremation has taken place. There will be no visitation, by request. A graveside service will be held at 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, October 4, 2016 in the Cambridge Cemetery, Kings County, Reverend Virginia DeAdder (niece) and Reverend Darryl Dykens officiating. A special thank you for all the prayers and support from special angels, homecare, doctors and nurses. Donations in memory may be made to the Cambridge Baptist Church, the Canadian Cancer Society or the charity of your choice. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the White Family Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Kentville.
