David John Galley

David John Galley - 65, of Grafton, Kings County, passed away Friday, November 11, 2016 in the QEII Health Sciences Centre - VG Site, Halifax. Born in Kentville, he was a son of Vivian (Hiltz) (Galley) Zwicker, Aldershot and Jack (Barbara) Galley, Bridgewater. David was raised by his grandparents, Verlie and Ronald Hiltz, whom he called Nannie and Pup. David worked in the retail industry with Dominion Stores and later owned and operated, together with his brother, Gary, Galley’s General Store, Grafton. He was then employed as an activity worker at Grand View Manor, Berwick, from where he retired. He was a member of the Waterville and District Fire Department for 43 years. David enjoyed travelling and absolutely adored spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren. He is survived by his wife of 44 years, Gladys (Turner); a daughter, Karen Galley (Alan Barkhouse), Cambridge; a son, Alan, Alberta; a sister, Wendy Feener (Norm Rogers), Liverpool; a brother, Gary (Pearl), Welsford; mother and father-in-law, George and Eva (Schnare) Turner, Grafton; brother-in-law, Robert (Theresa) Turner, Grafton; five grandchildren, Emily, Owen, Chance, Derick and Freddie. He was predeceased by a daughter-in-law, Denise (Hill) Galley; his step-father, Donald Zwicker. Visitation will be held from 6-8 p.m. Tuesday, November 15, 2016 in the White Family Funeral Home, Kentville, where the funeral service, followed by a reception, will be held at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, November 16, 2016, Pastor Marie McCullum officiating. Family flowers only, by request. Donations in memory may be made to the Black Rock Baptist Church, the Waterville and District Fire Department or The Lodge that Gives. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the White Family Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Kentville.
