Harold Thomas Ryan

It is with saddened hearts that the family of Harold Thomas Ryan, 69, of New Visions Home for Special Care, Berwick, formerly of New Minas, announces that he passed away surrounded by his family, Sunday, November 13, 2016 in the Valley Regional Hospital, Kentville. Born in Middleton, he was a son of the late James "Jim" and Lillian (Redden) Ryan. He had been employed with Hostess Frito Lay, New Minas, retiring in 1991 due to ill health. He had been involved with Minor Baseball in New Minas and in one year had coached a team that won the championship. He was also very involved with the Evangeline Club, where he spent countless hours with his friends. Harold was an avid camper and enjoyed spending time with his nieces and nephews while camping on the weekends at South Mountain Park. He also loved to bowl. Having come from a large family, he is survived by two brothers, Jimmy (Carroll) and David (Sheila); four sisters, Donna (James) Moffitt, Brenda Arenburg, Thelma (George) Gee and Susan (Dwight) Mossman; numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by a brother-in-law, Bernie Arenburg. Cremation has taken place. There will be no visitation, by request. The funeral service, followed by a reception, will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, November 17, 2016 in the White Family Funeral Home, Kentville, Reverend Barbara Cochran officiating. Burial will take place in the North Kingston Cemetery. Donations in memory may be made to the West Brooklyn Baptist Church or the Evangeline Club. The family would like to thank the doctors and nurses on Medical B at the Valley Regional Hospital for the tender loving care given to Harold. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the White Family Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Kentville.
