M. Paulson "Paul" Elderkin

1927-2016

M. Paulson "Paul" Elderkin

M. Paulson "Paul" Elderkin - 89, of Greenwich, NS , died peacefully at home with family by his side on Tuesday, November 15, 2016 - four years to the day after his wife, Louise. Born in Wolfville, he was the third child of the late Angus and Betsey (Paulson) Elderkin. He attended NSAC and MacDonald College before coming back to farm with his father, from whom he eventually took over Broadview Farms. He was a past president of the Nova Scotia Fruit Growers Association, Wolfville Lions Club, and a former member of the Wolfville Curling Club. A man of few words, Paul could always be counted on for a witty remark. He enjoyed feeding the birds and growing things, and fondly recalled the year he planted 34 varieties of tomato. He and Louise enjoyed travelling but he always said the best part of any trip was coming home. Together they attended many concerts and Paul maintained his appreciation of music to the end. He cared deeply for his family and friends and is survived by his children, Sharman (Roy) Fells, Arcadia, NS; Kathryn, Riverview, NB; and Peter (Sharlene), Wolfville; seven grandchildren, Sarah, Matthew and Hannah Fells, Chad, Robert, Kevin, and Aaron Elderkin; as well as five great grandchildren, Madelyn Carter, Caitin, Skylar, Ava and Maya Elderkin; also a sister, Laverne Rabatich, Plaster Rock, NB, and brother, Malcolm, Wolfville; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his wife, Louise, and brother, Budd. A special thank you to Dr. Alison Wellwood, and to the VON home support team and everyone who made it possible for Dad to remain at home. Cremation has taken place and a graveside service will be held Saturday, November 19, 2016 at 4:00 p.m. at Willow Bank Cemetery in Wolfville, Reverend Gary Manthorne officiating. Family flowers only please. If desired, memorial donations may be made to the VON or charity of choice. Arrangements have been entrusted to the White Family Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Kentville.
