Valentyna Gushak

Valentyna Gushak - 80, of Kentville, formerly of Ukraine, passed away on Sunday, November 20, 2016 in the Valley Regional Hospital, Kentville. Born in Russia, she was a daughter of the late Dmitry and Vera (Seneva) Lukyanov. She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother. Valentyna moved to Canada in 2013 to be close to family. Her knowledge of the English language was limited, however, she loved people and managed to make many friends on her daily walks throughout the neighborhood. She enjoyed traveling, the outdoors and spending time with family. She is survived by daughters, Luda Shalin, Kentville; Tanya (Leonid) Chernyavska, Truro; three grandchildren, Andrew, Vlad, Olya; nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents and siblings, she was predeceased by her husband of 50 years, Peter Gushak and a son-in-law, Alexander Shalin. Cremation will take place and there will be no visitation or funeral by request. Services and burial will be held in Ukraine at a later date. Donations in memory may be made to the Valley Regional Hospital Foundation. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the White Family Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Kentville.
