Victor Allison Moses

1932-2016

Victor Allison Moses (b. July 17, 1932 in Dayton, Yarmouth County) died peacefully at home on the morning of Friday, November 18th.

He was the youngest of the four children of the late Arnold and Lydia (Ellis) Moses, Yarmouth.

He is survived by his loving wife of 51 years Virginia (Ginny Sanford), his brother Arnold (Hannah ‘Anne’) Moses of Calgary; his nieces and nephews, Katheryn ‘Kathy’ (Alan) Mohle of Yarmouth, Linda (James) Wheadon of Cambridge, Arnold ‘Arnie’ Burnard of Hantsport, Leanne (Rob) Jamieson of Dallas, Texas, and Blair Moses of Brisbane, Australia; great nieces and nephews: Adam Mohle, Erin Mohle, Rebekah Wheadon, Neal Jamieson, Kenneth Wheadon, Trevor Jamieson, Bronte Moses, Millie Moses and Morgan Burnard.

Victor was predeceased by his sisters, Katheryn ‘Kaye’ Moses of Yarmouth and Elizabeth ‘Betty’ (Roy) Burnard of Yarmouth, and his great niece Margaret Burnard of Lockhartville.

Victor was a graduate of the Nova Scotia Agricultural College (Truro) and McGill University, MacDonald College (Montreal).

From an early age Vic had a devotion to and love for animals and for the agricultural industry. He received many awards in recognition of his contributions to agriculture in Nova Scotia.

Vic enjoyed music, laughter, playing board games, and especially time spent with friends and family. He was a generous and giving soul, quick to hold out a hand of welcome and friendship. Despite his many commitments and interests he could always be counted on when someone was needed to serve on a committee, lend a helping hand or listen without judgment.

Generously volunteering his time Vic served on many boards and committees. Many know him for the work he did as a volunteer for many years at Valley Regional Hospital, as a member and then president of Glooscap curling club, and as a dedicated member of New Minas Baptist church where he served in many rolls including chairman of the Board of Deacons and chairman of the Board of Trustees.

Vic lived a life filled with friendship, with love, and with laughter. While he will be missed, he would want us to believe, as he did, that "death is not the extinguishing of a light, but the putting out of a lamp because the dawn has come." (Unknown)

The celebration of Victor’s life will be held Monday, November 28th at 1 pm from New Minas Baptist Church with Reverend Daniel Cormier and Reverend Sterling Gosman officiating. A private burial will follow in Elm Grove Cemetery in Steam Mill. In lieu of flowers donations in memory may be made to New Minas Baptist Church, Valley Regional Hospital, or the charity of your choice.

Cremation arrangements are under the care and direction of White Family Funeral Home and Cremation Services. Words of comfort may be forwarded to the family at www.whitefamilyfuneralhome.com.
