Donald Lester Butler

Donald Lester "Don" Butler - 87, of North Alton, Kings County, passed away Tuesday, November 22, 2016 surrounded by his family at the Shannex - Orchard Court, Kentville. Born September 24, 1929 on Butler Road, Blue Mountain, he was a son of the late Henry and Sarah (Arenburg) Butler. Don was well known for his story telling, his love for his family, his love for hunting and fishing and time spent at his camp. Don is survived by his loving and caring wife of 58 years, Sybil (Aalders); daughters, Ruth (Herbert) Young, Sheila (David) Dorey and Karen Naugler; grandchildren; Wade (Katie) Young, Joel (Melissa) Young, Josh (Jessica) Dorey, Skyla Dorey (Francis), Nicolle Russell (Zack); six great grandchildren; sisters-in-law, Ruth Aalders and Leah Butler. Don was the last surviving member of his immediate family. He was predeceased by his sisters, Gladys, Hattie, Nellie, Jennie, Susie, Mamie, Leah, Hilda and Sadie; brothers, George, Fred, Perry, Avard and Edgar. A special thanks to all the staff at Shannex – Orchard Court for their support and the care given to Don over the years. Visitation will be held from 6-8 p.m. Thursday, November 24, 2016 in the White Family Funeral Home, Kentville, where the funeral service, followed by a reception, will be held at 1:00 p.m. Friday, November 25, 2016, Grandson, Reverend Josh Dorey officiating. Donations in memory may be made to the Annapolis Valley Victorian Order of Nurses or Valley Regional Hospital Foundation. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the White Family Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Kentville.
