Ada May MacDuff

Ada May (Foote) MacDuff – 78, of Centreville, Kings County, passed away Tuesday, November 29, 2016 at home. Born in Berwick, she was a daughter of the late Henry Hartley and Hazel Grace (Petty) Foote. Ada had been employed in retail sales with several local jewelry stores, including Duguid’s, Palmeter’s Tower and Reid’s. She was an excellent seamstress and enjoyed crafts, especially rug hooking. Community minded, Ada was a member of the Centreville Good Neighbour Club where she served as Coordinator. An avid volunteer, she was also involved with the Girl Guides, taught Sunday school and was awarded the Kings County Volunteer of the Year award in 2015. She is survived by her husband of 59 years, Everett; three daughters, Mary Ellen MacDuff, Centreville; Susan May MacDuff, Centreville and Janette Louise MacDuff, Upper Dyke; two sisters, Jean Brydon, Black Rock; Alice (Rudy) VanHattem, Woodville; two brothers, George (Trina) Foote, Woodville; John (Linda) Foote, Woodville; a brother-in-law, George Baldwin, Woodville; five grandchildren, Katherine "Kate" (Bill) Grimshire, Trenton, Ontario; Allison West, Centreville; Peter (Jennifer) Aalders, Sackville; Casey Aalders, Port Williams; Annie (Kevin) Forney, Grande Prairie, Alberta; five great grandchildren, Mackenzie, Drew, Ty, Lily and Aubrey Rose. She was predeceased by a sister, Grace Baldwin. Cremation has taken place. There will be no funeral service, by request. Ada’s life will be celebrated at a visitation to be held from 2-4 p.m. Saturday, December 10, 2016 in the White Family Funeral Home, Kentville. Burial will take place at a later date in the Lakeview Cemetery, Lakeville, Kings County. Donations in memory may be made to Cancer Research Society. Arrangements have been entrusted to the White Family Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Kentville.
