William "Bill" J. Oxby
1929-2016
William "Bill" John Oxby – 87, of Berwick, passed away Wednesday, November 28, 2016 in the Grand View Manor, Berwick. Born in Orillia, Ontario, he was the son of the late James and Alice (Potts) Oxby. He began his working career in the late 1940’s as a teenager joining McNamara Marine Construction and remained with the firm for his entire career, starting as a deck hand and labourer and retiring as project superintendent. He took great pride in having been involved in many significant projects including the Mactaquac Dam, the islands constructed to host Expo ’67, as well as the Toronto waterfront development project. Bill and Margaret retired to Nova Scotia in the late 1980’s and had resided in Berwick for many of those years. He is survived by his wife, Margaret (McInnis), Berwick; daughter, Debra Oxby (Peter Rideout), Berwick; son, Paul (Shirley) Oxby, Edmonton; sister, Doris, Orillia; four grandchildren, Brendan, Shayne, Russell and Mary Ellen. Cremation has taken place and a private family service has been held. Donations in memory may be made to the Valley Regional Hospital Foundation.
