 Hendrikus Anthony "Henry" Hooch-Antink - It is with deep sadness we announce the passing of Henry "Opa" Hooch-Antink – 82, of Upper Canard, Kings County.  He passed away peacefully Thursday December 1, 2016 in the Valley Regional Hospital, Kentville.  Born in the Netherlands, he was the son of the late Hendrik and Anna (Ueffing) Hooch-Antink.  Opa will be missed and remembered by his daughter, Mary-Ann (Ed) Charrier, Leaf Rapid, Manitoba; son, Mike (Natalie) Hammonds Plains; his sister, Dorothy (John) TeBraake, Wolfville; his grandchildren, Elizabeth, Jenna, Drew, Terrance, Trevor and Ed Jr; and his 7 great grandchildren.  He was predeceased by his wife, Alice (Zieverink); his son, Tony; two sisters, Annie and Rieky and his four brothers, John, Bill, Theo and Tony.  Opa will be remembered as a hard-working man who loved spending time with family and friends.  He was active throughout his life always driving his children to the rink.  He volunteered as a coach for several years for his son’s hockey teams, the girls and boy’s ball hockey teams and his daughter’s ringette team.  If he wasn’t behind the bench he was cheering from the stands.  In later years he continued to be a sports enthusiast and was a regular at all the Acadia Axeman hockey games with his good friend Gary Cooper.  He also loved having a hand of cards and was an avid crib player, participating in several crib tournaments across the Province.  Henry had a great sense of humor, was a real people person and had a zest for life.  He will be missed by all.  Visitation will be held from 6:00-7:00 pm, Tuesday, Dec 6, 2016 in the White Funeral Home, Kentville, with prayers to be held at 6:45 pm.  The funeral service, followed by a reception, will be held at 10:00 am, Wednesday, December 7, 2016 in St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, Kentville, Father John MacPherson officiating.  Burial will take Place in St Francis of Assisi Roman Catholic Cemetery, Wolfville Ridge.  In lieu of flowers, donations in memory may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society.  Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the White Family Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Kentville.  On-line condolences and inquires may be directed to www.whitefamilyfuneralhome.com.
