John Gilbert "Gil" Moir

John Gilbert "Gil" Moir - passed away in Soldier’s Memorial Hospital on December 5, 2016. Born in Dartmouth on June 24, 1929, he was a son of Stewart and Lillas Moir. He worked at the NAD and CFAD in Bedford as an Ammunition Tech Supervisor for 36 years. He retired to the Valley with his wife Shirley and settled in Berwick. Gil was a sixty six year Mason of Cornwallis and Valley Lodges, a Shriner of Philae Temple,  a member of the Eastern Valley Shrine Club, Laurel Chapter Eastern Star and Christ Anglican Church, Berwick. He was a past member of the Berwick Lions Club and his coffee club, which he really enjoyed. Surviving are his wife of 40 years, Shirley (Nichols); son, Russell, BC; sister, Olive, Halifax; two grandchildren, Mitchell and Amber Moir; step-daughter, Heather (Phil) Godfrey, Dartmouth; three step-grandchildren, Sean (Jill) Godfrey, Susan Godfrey and Erin Smith; two great grandchildren, Liam and Kyleigh Smith. He was predeceased by a son, Ronald. Cremation has taken place. There will be no visitation, by request. There will be an Order of Eastern Star, Masonic and funeral service held at 2:00 pm, Saturday, December 10, 2016 in Christ Anglican Church, Berwick, Reverend Mel Malton officiating. A private family burial will take place in the Berwick Cemetery. A reception will follow in the Berwick United Church. Donations may be made to a charity of your choice. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the White Family Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Kentville.
