Madge Alwyn Smellie

Madge Alwyn Smellie. Born in Sask. December 16, 1924; died in NS at Evergreen Home for Special Care, Kentville on Jan. 3, 2017. Daughter of the late Diana (Curnew) and Frederick Bishop of Nfld and then Sask. Predeceased by sister Mona; brothers, Roy, Lorne, Fred; husband, Mac (1996). Survived by brother, Malcolm; son Jack, daughter-in-law, Suzanne (Lalonde); daughter, Jill; 3 grandchildren, Jennifer, Lois Ann and James; 5 great grandchildren, Danielle, Taylor, Macy, Mac and Jack; nieces, nephews and much extended family across Canada. Madge loved life, her family and friends, music, gardening and group activities. Madge also loved her church and community of Huntingdon, Québec where she lived 48 years with husband, Mac. After moving to NS, Madge continued to make friends and seek community, attend various churches and many musical events. Madge’s sparkle and sense of humor will be missed but fondly remembered by all who knew and loved her. A small service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, January 11, 2017 in the White Family Funeral Home, Kentville, Reverend Mary Anne Doherty-Fleet, Chaplain officiating. If desired, donations in memory may be made to Kings County S.P.C.A.
