Donna Gail Dempsey

Donna Gail Dempsey – 64, of North Alton, Kings County, went home peacefully to be with the Lord on Tuesday, February 7, 2017, surrounded by her loving family at her home. Born in Canning, on October 30, 1952, she was a daughter of Ron Eaton, Bridgewater and Doris (Eisner) Eaton, Canning. She attended Cornwallis District High School, Canning and in 1971 represented the Canning Fire Department as their Princess. She had most recently been employed at the Snack Shack, Kentville. She volunteered at Fidelis House, enjoyed spending time with her family, knitting and the peace of the ocean. In recent years, Donna was the recipient of a successful double lung transplant in Toronto and acquired a special family of lung buddies (Hosers), locally and across Canada. While in Toronto, Donna and Richard made many friends and faithfully attended church every Sunday. She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother who had a great sense of humour. In addition to her parents, she is survived by her husband of 45 years, Richard; loving and devoted daughters, Leah (Keith) Curley, Crystal (Robert) Lenihan and Tara (Kevin) Ward; adorable grandchildren, Kelsey Dempsey, Devin and Aaron Lenihan, Nicholas, Rebeca and Emily Ward; sisters, Pat, Mary and JoAnn; brother, Bradford; special aunt and uncle, Jack and Verna Eaton, who have been with the family through everything. She was predeceased by her loving pet dog, "Peppy". Cremation has taken place. Visitation will be held from 6-8 p.m. Friday, February 10, 2017 in the White Family Funeral Home, Kentville, where a celebration of Donna’s life and reception will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, February 11, 2017, Reverend Virginia DeAdder officiating. Donations in memory may be made to the Annapolis Valley Palliative Care Program or the North Alton Baptist Church. The family would like to express a sincere thank you to all of Donna’s care givers and supporters for your kindness, care and compassion.
