Shirley Carol Roy

Shirley Carol Roy – 76, formerly of Truro, passed away Saturday, February 18, 2017 in Dykeland Lodge, Windsor. Born in Hazelton, NB, she was a daughter of the late Claude and Zillah (Betts) Sutherland. A lady of strong faith, Shirley loved sharing in her husband’s ministry. In her younger years, she was an avid reader and gardener and was an excellent baker, especially fudge. She loved jig saw and crossword puzzles and enjoyed game shows, particularly The Price is Right. She was also a member of the Red Hatters Society. She is survived by her husband, Reverend David Roy, Dykeland Lodge; a daughter, Kathy (Reg) Schofield, New Minas; a son, Kevin Roy, New Minas; a sister, Esther Bagley, Moncton, NB; a sister-in-law, Helen Cox, Valley; a brother-in-law, Boyd O’Donnell, Hoyt, NB; two grandsons, Jacob and Jordan Schofield, Dartmouth; nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a daughter, Kathy (in infancy); a son, Errol; an infant child; five sisters, Marjorie O’Donnell, Gracie Johnson, Bessie Colpitts, Rhona Crane and Elizabeth Sutherland; three brothers, Walter, Cecil and Robert; three siblings (in infancy). Cremation has taken place. There will be no visitation, by request. The funeral service, followed by a reception, will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, February 25, 2017 in the White Family Funeral Home, Kentville. Interment will be held at a later date. No flowers, by request. Donations in memory may be made to the Valley Care Pregnancy Centre or the Canadian Diabetes Association. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the White Family Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Kentville.
