Murray McFall Brydon

1921-2017

Murray McFall Brydon

It is with great sadness we announce the peaceful passing of Murray McFall Brydon - 95, of Black Rock, on Friday March 3, 2017 at Grand View Manor, Berwick with his loving wife and family by his side. Murray was born in Black Rock, Nova Scotia on September 29, 1921 to his late parents, Max Esric and Stella Agusta (Bowlby) Brydon. Murray was a lifelong member of the Black Rock Baptist Church and a very faithful servant to his Savior the Lord Jesus Christ. Singing was an important part of his life; he sang with the Family mixed quartet and male quartets, including Kings Ambassadors, The Waterville Fireman’s Choir and church choir. He was dedicated and actively involved with his church; serving as Deacon, choir director, treasurer, and janitor. Murray worked his farm, operating a meat cart with a route spanning from Halls Harbour to Victoria Harbour.  He was a meat cutter for nine years at local stores, and worked in Waterville for 16 years as store manager. You would also find Murray with a smile on his face and teasing all he came in contact with, especially staff at Grand View Manor. He was called Dr. Brydon when it came to looking after the hatching of the chicken and goose eggs in the activity room, with the help of Lynn Hardy. Hobbies and activities included reading and studying the Bible daily, singing and listening to gospel music, snowmobiling, motor-biking, scooter trips to Avery’s, travelling, and enjoyed helping out "the boys" in the Maintenance shop at Grand View Manor. He is survived by his wife of 75 years, Joyce (Kinsman); two daughters, Charlotte (Lester) Livingstone, Berwick; Sheila Faye (Larry) MacDonald, Somerset; three sons, Elvin (Paulette), Berwick; Leslie (Debbie), Newmarket, Ontario; Eric (Lorraine), Burlington, Ontario; nine grandchildren; 17 great grandchildren; five great great grandchildren and several nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by a sister, Madeline Hayes and her husband, Winston Hayes; a great grandson, Adrian Hardman. There will be no visitation, by request. The funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, March 9, 2017 at the Black Rock Baptist Church, Pastor Marie McCallum and Reverend Elizabeth Johnson officiating.  Private family burial will take place in the West Black Rock Cemetery. No flowers, by request. Donations in memory may be made to the Black Rock Baptist Church or Grand View Manor – Serenity Suite.
