James Douglas Sim

James Douglas "Doug" Sim – 76, of Middleton, passed away Tuesday, March 21, 2017 in the Annapolis Community Health Centre, Annapolis Royal. Born in Kentville, he was a son of the late Gordon and Gertrude (Huntley) Sim. Doug had a lifelong career in sales, beginning with Glubes, Kentville and eventually achieving his dream of operating his own store, B&D Carpets and Flooring Limited, Middleton. He enjoyed family gatherings which often resulted in great fun playing 45’s and cribbage. His grandchildren were the light of his life and he took great enjoyment in sharing his musical talents with them. He is survived by his wife, Doris (Arenburg); his daughters, Lynn (Ed) Violette and Trudy (Derek) Willoughby; a son, Glen (Sherry Ward); grandchildren, Jordan (Meghan), Brad (Gabbie), Jessica (fiancée Austin), Katie and Josh; great grandson, Carter; step-granddaughter, Kate; step-grandson, Evan; brother, Donald (Mary Ann). Besides his parents he was predeceased by a sister, Margaret. Cremation has taken place. There will be no visitation or funeral service, by request. A family graveside service will take place at a later date in the Lakeview Cemetery, Lakeville, Kings County. Donations in memory may be made to Annapolis Valley VON (Nursing and Home Support), Annapolis Valley Palliative Care and Continuing Care or the Annapolis Valley Branch of the Canadian Red Cross. Arrangements have been entrusted to the White Family Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Kentville.
