Carolyn Marie Redden

Carolyn Marie Redden - 73, of South Alton, Kings County, passed away Thursday, May 4, 2017 in the Valley Regional Hospital, Kentville. Born in Kentville, she was a daughter of the late Clarence and Erema "Pauline" (Schofield) Young. Carolyn had been employed at the Towers Department Store, New Minas and later in the dietary department at both the Miller Hospital and the Blanchard Fraser Memorial Hospital. She had a great love for the outdoors, including camping, fishing, snowmobiling and four wheeling at the camp on Gaspereau Lake. She enjoyed crafts, especially knitting and macramé. Carolyn was a wonderful wife, mother and grandmother and took great pride in her home. She is survived by her husband, Hughie; a son, Danny, South Alton; two daughters, Sandra (Curtis) DeAdder, South Alton; Brenda (Fred) Hutchinson, Avonport; two sisters, Doreen (Raymond) Cavanagh, Centreville; Shirley Kohler, Kentville; a brother, Clarence Jr. (Gail), Windsor; four grandchildren, Ashlie, Travis and Oliver Redden and Nicholas Hutchinson; sister-in-law, Joyce Young, Kentville and a special canine companion, Lucy. Besides her parents, she was predeceased by a brother, Donald. Visitation will be held from 6-8 p.m. Saturday, May 6, 2017 in the White Family Funeral Home where the funeral service, followed by a reception will be held at 4:30 p.m. Sunday, May 7, 2017, Reverend Leon Langille officiating. The family wishes to thank the staff of the VON and the Wolfville Nursing Home as well as the doctors and nurses at the Valley Regional Hospital, ICU for their kindness, care and compassion. Donations in memory may be made to the Canadian Diabetes Association or the Alzheimer Society – Lewy Body Dementia.
