Leslie "Les" Kenneth Boyd

Leslie "Les" Kenneth Boyd – Born March 26, 1953 in Middleton NS, passed away in hospital, surrounded by family on May 4, 2017. Les joined the Army Reserves in 1969, serving with the West Nova Scotia Regiment, where he attained the rank of Sergeant, until 1978, when he became a constable in the RCMP Auxiliary, serving until 1984. In 1974, Les graduated as a Stationary Engineer and began working at Acadian Distillers Limited in Bridgetown, moving to the Valley Regional Hospital in 1982, where he remained until retirement in September 2016. Les was an active community volunteer after settling in Coldbrook, co-founding the Coldbrook Soccer Club in 1986, where he served as co-ordinator and coach for many years. Les met the love of his life, Carol, in 1972, marrying in 1975. Along with his wife, his children and grandchildren were his greatest joys. He was predeceased by his father, Kenneth Boyd; mother, Rose (Lutz) Boyd; brother, Gary Boyd; father-in-law, André Fortin; mother-in-law, Shirley Fortin; brothers-in-law, Jamie Burton and Fred Lewis. He is survived by his loving wife, Carol (Fortin) Boyd; children, James (Sarah Smith) Boyd and Heather (Chris) Jobe; grandchildren, Owen and Lauren Jobe; sisters-in-law, Joanne (Dan Spinney) Fortin and Kim Fortin; nephews, Jason Boyd and Caleb Lewis. Cremation has taken place and there will be no visitation by request. Memorial service followed by reception will take place at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, May 10, 2017 in the White Family Funeral Home, Kentville, Pastor Christoph Deutschmann officiating. Family flowers only. Donations in memoriam to the Heart and Stroke Foundation or a charity of your choice. Special thanks to the doctors and nurses at the Valley Regional and EHS Services for their compassionate care.
