Adelbert Allister Sheffield


Adelbert Allister Sheffield – 94, of Glenmont, Kings County, passed away on Monday, May 8, 2017 in the Veteran’s Unit of Soldiers Memorial Hospital, Middleton. Born in Glenmont, he was a son of the late Allen and Emily (Fraser) Sheffield. He spent most of his life in Glenmont as a part-time farmer. He was a Veteran of the Second World War, serving five years in the 3rd Division Patrol RCA, SC. He is survived by his wife of 68 years, Lucy (Ward) Sheffield, daughters, Emily Hazel and Twila Maxwell; sons, Leslie, Leon, Dale and Vincent; sister Velma; 10 grandchildren, seven great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a sister, Florence; brothers, Ralph and Glenn; half-brothers, Augusta and Henry; son-in-law, William Young. Cremation has taken place and there will be no visitation by request. A private family graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, May 11, 2017 in the Glenmont Cemetery. Donations in memory may be made to the Veteran’s Unit of Soldiers Memorial Hospital. A special thank you to the staff at the Veteran’s Unit, where he received exceptional care. Their tender compassion and support will always be remembered.
