Leon Albert Lake

Leon Albert Lake – 76, of Brooklyn Corner, Kings County, passed away Saturday, May 13, 2017 at home. Born in Windsor, he was a son of the late Albert and Hazel (Redden) Lake. In his earlier years, Leon had owned and operated his own taxi service, served in the RCAF for a number of years and was employed with the Dominion Atlantic Railway. He was later employed as a letter carrier with Canada Post for many years. Leon will be sadly missed by his friends at Tim Horton’s, his poker buddies and all those who’s lives he has touched. Leon always had a cheerful personality with a smile and a warm greeting that all can attest could brighten a day. Leon was also an avid sports fan and athlete in his younger years and enjoyed rooting for the Bruins and Red Sox and the Patriots. He spent countless hours bass fishing and was a constant, consistent, positive presence in his family’s daily lives. He is survived by his best friend and loving wife, Beverly (Baker) Lake; his two sons, Troy (Amanda Balsor), Berwick; Korey (Debbie Irving), Kentville; a daughter, Sherry Lake-Otoole; two step-children, Steven (Mia) Lockhart, Wolfville; Pamela Chandra Lockhart, Halifax; grandchildren, Tori, Chloe, Olivia, Ariella, Emilia, Jax and Jet, Matthew and Maddie; seven step grandchildren; many cousins. He was predeceased by an infant brother, William; a granddaughter, Maddison. Cremation has taken place. Visitation will be held from 4:00 p.m. until the time of the funeral service at 7:00 p.m. Wednesday, May 17, 2017 in the White Family Funeral Home, Kentville, Reverend Virginia DeAdder officiating. Burial will take place in the Elm Grove Cemetery, Steam Mill, Kings County. Donations in memory may be made to the charity of your choice. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the White Family Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Kentville.
