Irene Ethel Faulkenham

With heavy hearts we announce the peaceful passing of Irene Ethel Faulkenham on Thursday, May 18, 2017 in Dykeland Lodge, Windsor at the age of 101 years. Born in New Cornwall, NS on October 30, 1915, she was the daughter of the late Henry and Ella (Isenor) Nauss. Irene was a strong, intelligent, creative woman who brought up her three sons on her own in Hantsport from the time they were young. A hairdresser by trade, she loved her clients and worked long hours to support her family. Her love of hairdressing has been passed on through three generations of family to include granddaughter, Veronica and great great granddaughter, Melissa. In her spare time she enjoyed making beautiful quilts, knitting, crossword puzzles, reading, baking bread and cookies, gardening and carpentry. Irene is survived by daughters-in-law and grandchildren, Carol (step-son, Kevin), Shirley (Joel and Tracy) and Hope (Vernon, Sherman, Veronica and Sharon) Faulkenham; 17 great grandchildren; three great great grandchildren; nephew, Roger Nauss; nieces, Maleeta Wagner, Barbara Keddy and Rosamond Langille. Besides her parents, Irene was predeceased by her sons, Oswald, Elwood and Vernon Faulkenham; brothers, Lorraine, Wallace and Robert Nauss; sisters, Ruth Kaulback, Bertha Bruhm and Mary (Elvin) Ernest. At her request, cremation has taken place, with a burial at a later date in the New Cornwall Memorial Gardens, Cornwall. Special thanks for the loving care that was provided by the wonderful team at Dykeland Lodge for the past four years.
