Annette Elizabeth Mackenzie

Annette Elizabeth Mackenzie - 93, of Kentville NS, passed away May 22, 2017 at the Valley Regional Hospital, Kentville. Born in Bridgetown, NS  she was a daughter of the late Ralph and Lila (Chase) Donaldson. Annette graduated from Barnard College in Industrial Psychology. After graduation Annette embarked on an exciting adventure in 1949 touring many European countries on her bicycle. She was later employed in various positions in New York City. Together with her husband Bordie, she enjoyed sailing to the Bahamas from their home in Nova Scotia. Annette was a wonderful homemaker with many talents and interests, including being a Ham Radio Operator, as well as learning to spin on a spinning wheel at the age of 85. She is survived by a daughter Elspeth (Carmen Dalrymple), Kentville; sons, Ian (Gail), Calgary, AB; Peter (Elaine), Connecticut; a brother, Alan (Ruth) Donaldson, West Virginia; grandchildren, Jennifer (Calvin Woo) MacMillan, Alison, Claire, Kate, Matthew and Alexis (Manny Olivares) Mackenzie; great grandchildren, William, Tabitha, Chloe and her many nieces, nephews and cousins. Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, W. Borden Mackenzie; and a brother, John. Cremation has taken place. A celebration of life will take place from 2-4 p.m. Sunday, June 25, 2017 at Kings Riverside Court, Kentville. Donations in memory may be made to Valley Regional Hospital and Open Arms. The family wishes to thank Dr. Todd and her team for their kindness, care and compassion shown to Annette and the family.
