Mabel Elizabeth Buchanan

Mabel Elizabeth Buchanan – 99, of Kentville, passed away on Wednesday, June 21, 2017 in the Valley Regional Hospital, Kentville. Born in Harvey Station, New Brunswick, she was a daughter of the late Charles A. and Margaret (Messer) Bell. Mabel was a member of the United Church of St. Paul and St. Stephen, Kentville, where she was a Past President of the United Church Guild and taught Sunday School for many years under the supervision of Reg and Hazel Turner. She was a former member of the Order of the Eastern Star, Evangeline Chapter, Kentville, Opal Rebekah Lodge No. 45 and an Honourary Life Member and Past President of the Kings North PC Association, where she currently held the office of Honourary Director. She also received a Nova Scotia Appreciation Certificate from the Town of Kentville for Volunteer of the Year and was a long-time member and Past President of Kentville New Horizons Seniors Club. Mabel is survived by two sons, Bev (Myrna), Hantsport and their two children, Colin (Amanda) Buchanan, Ontario and Jennifer (Jared) Brown, Lockhartville; Barry (Mary) Buchanan, North Alton and their three children, Adam (Heidi) Buchanan, Lake George, Kings County; Joshua (Matteo) Buchanan, North Carolina and Jordan Buchanan, Halifax; six great grandchildren, Hayden, Marley, Journey, Shianna, Cohen and Logan; a sister, Joyce Sloan, Harvey Station; nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, Roy; sisters, Mildred Wilson, Inez Swan and Jean Vance; brothers, Myles and Norman Bell. Visitation will be held from 1:00 p.m. until the time of the funeral service and reception at 2:00 p.m. Monday, June 26, 2017 in the White Family Funeral Home, Kentville, Reverend Ivan Norton officiating. Burial will take place in the Lakeview Cemetery, Lakeville, Kings County. Donations in memory may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation, the Kidney Foundation, the Canadian Diabetes Association or the charity of your choice. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the White Family Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Kentville, Nova Scotia.
