Robin William Wright
1952-2017
Robin William Wright – 65, of New Minas, passed away Friday, June 23, 2017 in the Valley Regional Hospital, Kentville. Born in Halifax, he was a son of Doris Louise (Gosling) Wright, New Minas and the late William Charles Wright. In his earlier years, he had been employed in Halifax at the dockyards and in several hospitals. He also worked at Acadia University and for a short period of time at the Wandlyn Inn, Coldbrook, retiring due to ill health. He was a wonderful husband, son, brother, father and grandfather. He grew up in Halifax and moved to the Annapolis Valley around 1979. He enjoyed spending time with his spouse, family, friends and especially his grandchildren. Robin had a kind and generous heart and was always willing to help others. A talented musician, he played at numerous benefits over the years to help people out when they were in need. He performed with the Vintage Country Band, Country Heat and when he was a member of the band Siloam, he also played in various churches. He played at the Wolfville Nursing Home, the Wolfville and Kentville Legions, the New Minas Seniors Club, the New Minas Seniors Sunday Night events and the Meadowview Hall. Robin truly enjoyed his music and playing with other entertainers, many of whom were like family to him. He was also an Elvis fan and enjoyed dressing up as an Elvis impersonator for benefit shows and functions. In addition to his mother, he is survived by his wife, Goldie (Atwell) Wright; two daughters, Amanda Wright, Kentville; Tracy Wright, Halifax; a son, Scott Brewer (Liza), Avonport; three brothers, Donnie Wright (Tammie), Wayne Wright (Pat) and Kenny Wright (Donna); a sister, Sharon James (Brian); seven grandchildren, Hannah, Abby, Bailey, Shelby, Cesily, Shaylee and Gabe; nieces and nephews. In addition to his father, he was predeceased by a sister, Wendy Kelly; a brother, John Wright. Visitation will be held from 6-8 p.m. Tuesday, June 27, 2017 in the White Family Funeral Home, Kentville, where the funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, June 28, 2017, Reverend Gary Manthorne officiating. Burial will take place in the Elm Grove Cemetery, Steam Mill. A reception will follow in the Meadowview Hall. Donations in memory may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Nova Scotia or the Valley Regional Hospital – Cardiac Unit. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the White Family Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Kentville, Nova Scotia.
